a.		Pulver tells the sailors to "flemish up the lines" as he gives the nurses a tour. Flemish is a nautical term meaning to tidy up ropes (lines) by making a Flemish coil i.e. by taking the end of a line and laying it in a tight flat spiral on the deck.
b.		After Paul Thomas Anderson had shown Cigarettes & Coffee at the 1993 Sundance Film Festival, he was invited to the Sundance Institute Filmmaker Lab. There, he shot a few scenes from this movie (John and Sydney in the diner, John calling Sydney from a payphone, the motel sequence with the hostage, and Jimmy threatening Sydney in his car). John C. Reilly and Philip Baker Hall played the roles they had in the film (John and Sydney respectively), while Moira Kelly played Clementine (played in the movie by Gwyneth Paltrow) and Courtney B. Vance, played Jimmy (later played by Samuel L. Jackson). The diner, payphone and car scenes all got edited and can be seen on the DVD release of the film, but the scene in the motel was not cut.
c.		A silent film version of one of the famous "Princess Theatre musicals" with music by Jerome Kern and lyrics by P.G. Wodehouse, this was never redone as a sound film. The song "Bill", which was later inserted into "Show Boat" and made into a song classic by Helen Morgan, originally came from the stage version of "Oh, Lady, Lady!" (The lyrics to "Bill", however, were much altered for "Show Boat").
d.		The movies line "Youve got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?" was voted as the #51 movie quote by the American Film Institute (out of 100).
