a.		George Lucas made what was at the time an unusual deal for this film. The studio financed the films entire $20-million budget. In exchange, Lucas would own over 40% of the film and collect almost half of the profits after the studio grossed a certain amount. It turned out to be a very lucrative deal for Lucas. Paramount executive Michael Eisner said that he felt the script for this film was the best he had ever read.
b.		"The Screen Guild Theater" broadcast a 30 minute radio adaptation of the movie on October 16, 1944 with Herbert Marshall reprising his film role.
c.		This is considered the "lost" film of Scream Queen Linnea Quigley. Director Eric Swelstad abandoned the project before finding a distributor and the title has yet to be released to a mass market audience. Over the years various producers including Jim Wynorski, Rob Spera and Jody Savin have expressed an interest in putting the finishing touches on the film, with the intention of finally releasing it. Swelstad, who owns the initial rights to Blood Church, was resistant and nothing came of their efforts. In 2004, two individual production companies American Film Partners International and Media Blasters expressed an interest in the film, once again with little luck.

The original ending of the film consisted of the Griswold family, after seeing that Walley World is closed, going to the Hollywood house of Roy Wally (Eddie Bracken), the owner of Walley World, and holding him and his family hostage and making them sing and dance Walley World theme songs before the police arrive to arrest all of them. This did not go over well with test-audiences and the in-park scenes with John Candy was a last minute alternate filmed over two weeks, four months after production ended. The original ending was deleted and is believed to be lost. Eddie Bracken never-less appeared as Roy Walley in both endings.
