a.		In early 2008, Paul Haggis was brought on to polish the script. After he was done, three weeks before filming, Shawn Ryan was asked to rewrite the script, and he took "a pretty big whack" at it. However, he later had to return to television, and the filmmakers "subsequently brought in one or two other writers to continue the work," most likely Anthony E. Zuiker and Jonathan Nolan. So extensive were the rewrites that Alan Dean Foster decided to rewrite the entire novelization after submitting it to his publisher, because the compiled shooting script was very different from the one he was given beforehand.
b.		The production obeyed five central obstructions: 1. Shoot the entire film in one day, in downtown New York City. 2. Use three different cameras to cover the scenes, representing each narrative point of view (first, second, third person). 3. No multiple takes; Only one take per shot (sometimes one per scene, ala Nouvelle Vague, Melville, Vertov). 4. All scenes must incorporate significant elements of improvisation. 5. As with much documentary filmmaking, the story and plot(s) were to be considered flexible (by both cast and core crew) if more present or compelling material arose through improvisation, via both cinematography and acting within the scenes.
c.		"Screen Directors Playhouse" broadcast a 30 minute radio adaptation of the movie on November 18, 1949 with Ray Milland reprising his film role.
d.		The scene where Boingo is admonishing his henchman, Keith, that his name isnt scary enough and he should change it to Boris, was not scripted. It was ad-libbed by Andy Dick while recording his lines. The dialogue is ironic because the names mean almost the same thing. Keith is Scottish-Gaelic and means, "from the battlefield". Boris is Slavic, and means, "battler, or, warrior".
