c.		Paul Newman confessed in interviews towards the end of his life that "When Time Ran Out...." was the only movie he ever did for the money. He only referred to it as "that volcano movie" and that he and most of the cast knew it would be a bomb from day one. Many believe that part of his salary from this movie was used as seed money for a salad dressing business he was setting up with author A.E. Hotchner, with 100% of the profits, after taxes, going to educational and charitable organizations. Their company, Newmans Own, established in 1982, has raised to date over $260 million for charities all over the world, and continues to grow and prosper to this day.
d.		The plot was inspired by two earlier stories. The first, H.G. Wells "The New Accelerator" (1901) about a scientist who develops a drug enabling him to move so fast that no-one can see him. From his viewpoint, everyone else seems frozen in time. The second inspiration, a 1963 episode of "The Twilight Zone" titled "A Kind Of Stopwatch" in which an irritating little man is given a stopwatch which allows him to freeze everyone else in time while he can move normally.
