It was a major trestle used for the railroad to Vernonias once-running saw mill that was well known as the worlds largest at one time. The place that the group is seen meeting a couple times throughout the movie with graffiti on the walls is the site where the saw mill was, which is now known as the "Mill Pond" in Vernonia, Oregon.
