a.		As a producer, Steven Spielberg shopped directing duties on this film to numerous colleagues, because he was afraid he couldnt do the story justice. He was turned down by Martin Scorsese (who was interested but ultimately felt it was a subject that should be done by a Jewish director), Roman Polanski (who didnt feel he was yet ready to tackle the Holocaust after surviving his childhood in it), and Billy Wilder (who turned it down because was in retirement). Apparently, it was Wilder who convinced Spielberg to direct it himself.
b.		Francis Fisher plays Jonathan Taylor Thomass characters mother in this film. In 1991 she was cast as his characters mother in the show "Home Improvement", but was replaced due to poor early audience reaction to her.
c.		Although the origin of the screenplay is not credited, the Motion Picture Herald stated that the film was based on a story written by Melville Crossman (a pseudonym of Darryl F. Zanuck), which appeared in Liberty Magazine. However, no other source mentions that story.

a.		Peter Weller previously starred in Shakedown which came out a year after Robocop, where he played a New York City public district attorney. That film, Weller was defending a suspect of selling drugs and shooting an undercover police officer who happens to be corrupt. In this film, Weller as Robocop is battling a drug lord Cain, who as an officer of the law is almost killed under his orders (completely taken apart in pieces) and is also battling a corrupt group of OCP officers and executives.
b.		This film was made and released before Barbara Stanwyck and Robert Taylor were married. In the oversized, 22-page press book that the studio had prepared for the exhibitors, there were constant references to and blurb lines describing Stanwyck and Taylor as "real-life sweethearts" or "real-life heart interests", etc., stills captions particularly, typical 1930s selling points to be used in the advertising. However, somewhere between the planning and the execution, something went amiss, and the pressbook had an 8x10 snipe pasted on page three with specific instructions: Dated May 26, 1937, and addressed to Exhibitors as IMPORTANT NOTICE. It read: "Delete the phrase "real-life sweethearts" and any similar phase, or any stunts or copy along the same line from all advertising or publicity on THIS IS MY AFFAIR. In utilizing any of the press book materials you will please correct the copy, eliminating the words "real-life sweethearts."
