a.		Faye Dunaway, Mia Farrow and Anjelica Huston were originally considered for the role of Alex Forrest, but they never auditioned for the part. Barbara Hershey, Miranda Richardson and Debra Winger were the first choices to play Alex Forrest who auditioned for the part. Glenn Close was actually the fourth choice for the role of Alex Forrest.
b.		This was the only movie Susan Peters made after the hunting accident which paralyzed her from the waist down. (She had been paralyzed after being hit by a ricochet after an accidental discharge of her rifle.)
c.		Near the end of the movie, Cheech says "Were gonna be bigger than Ruben & The Jets." d.		Before pre-production began, director Terrence Malick walked on foot across the entire southwest, stopping periodically to call producers Robert Michael Geisler and Grant Hill to talk about the meaning of the film.
