a.		Originally filmed as "The Sacred Idol," the film was co-produced by Edward Nassour, actor Jeffrey Hunter and David DaLie. The original direction was by DaLie, Ismael Rodríguezand Edward Nassour. After Nassours death, his brother William sold the film to producer Robert Patrick who had additional scenes filmed with actor Marshall Thompson. In the original version, the music score was composed by Les Baxter and is retained in the later version. A Stereo LP of the score was released on Capital Records (Capital ST1293) and lists Nassour as the films producer on the cover of the album jacket.
b.		Steven Spielberg included the opening scene where the car driven by a group of students racing against a car driven by a Russian soldier as a homage to his friend George Lucas. In his youth, Lucas had a passion of car racing. (See also American Graffiti). In the previous movie, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Spielberg included the opening prologue in homage to his experiences as a boy scout.
c.		There were additional scenes filmed with Boris Karloff introducing the segments, however AIP decided they were unnecessary and cut them from the film. Karloff would later say these introductions were some of the most fun hed ever had on a film set.
