Bradburys story was about a dinosaur that destroys a lighthouse. The next day Bradbury received a telegram offering to buy the film rights to the story. After the sale, the films title was changed to "The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms". Years later when Bradbury had his story reprinted he changed the title to "The Fog Horn".
d.		The 1930 Broadway production of "Strike Up the Band", with music and lyrics by George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin, had no relation to the story of this film. That was a political satire that had trouble getting to Broadway, and when it did, it had only a short run of 191 performances. However, the title song became very popular and is included in this film.

a.		The first scene at the police station, which begins at around the 20 minute mark, was apparently shot in a single take. It lasts 3 minutes, with no visible cuts.
b.		Originally planned as a vehicle for Charles Hutchison, to be directed by W.S. Van Dyke. Filming of the first episode went disastrously: Hutch was to jump from a balcony to a chandelier and swing across a room, but the chandelier came crashing to the floor with him. The result was the backwards dislocation of one of Hutchs elbows. The project was shelved and eventually scrapped.
c.		Shortly before filming began, Lionel Barrymore lost the use of his legs to crippling arthritis and a hip injury. To accommodate him, the script was altered so that his character had a sprained ankle, and Barrymore did the film on crutches.
d.		Brian Deacon, the man who plays Jesus, caught pneumonia during the latter part of the filming. To give Deacon some relief, doubles were employed for some long shots, particularly during the crucifixion.
