Geoffrey Rush was initially unsure about voicing the alien Tomar-Re, but he had previously voiced avian roles (he had played an owl in Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of GaHoole and a pelican in Finding Nemo), and so when he saw an image of the birdlike Tomar-Re, he accepted the role. He had also noted that he had played various mentor roles before, so felt he would be more than comfortable with the role.

a.		The music in the film became the subject of a minor but telling episode in the Cold War. Alfred Newman, the illustrious head of the 20th Century-Fox music department, scored this picture. Its not readily known who decided to incorporate genuine Soviet music into the film, but Newmans score featured compositions by the USSRs finest: Dmitri Shostakovich, Sergei Prokofiev, Aram Khachaturyan and Dominik Miskovský. All four composers signed (or were ordered to sign) a letter of protest that claimed their music was appropriated via a "swindle" in order to accompany this "outrageous picture". No individuals were named, except "the agents of the American Twentieth Century-Fox Corporation". None of the composers would have had the opportunity to have seen the movie, thus it is to be assumed that they were put up to this protestation by the Stalin regime. Interestingly, the four "protesting" Soviet composers were at that same time under severe scrutiny themselves for composing music that was construed as subversive to the Soviet state, and for a time their heads were on the chopping block. So its also to be assumed that the four filed this protest as a gesture of their loyalty to Joseph Stalin (or, more likely, to save themselves from being executed). In any case, these composers were often obliged to make "statements" that they personally had nothing to do with. Coincidentally, Hollywood at this same time was beginning to be scrutinized by the House Un-American Activities Committee for signs of "subversion" of the American state, resulting its its own blacklist. a.		Writer/Producer/Director Anthony Henslee actually grew up on a cattle ranch in Palo Pinto County, Texas.
b.		Although the first script draft turned in on 30 May 1985 was very close to the final film, some scenes in this version were dropped in the final film. Those include: A shower scene with Ripley in a futuristic shower environment Ripley going into more detail about the facehuggers while briefing the Marines, calling the facehugger "a walking sex organ" to which Hudson replies, "Sounds like you, Hicks." There are thirty atmospheric processing units on the planet, as opposed to only one in the final film. Newt formally offering Ripley to be her daughter Bishop encountering an alien while crawling along the tunnel (this scene also appeared in the final script but neither in the theatrical release nor in the Special Edition) The second drop ship refueling itself before leaving the Sulaco under Bishops remote control. The first draft also included a scene with a cocooned Burke, which was shot but not included in any of the versions of the movie.
c.		This film was the defunct sequel to the successful "Whats new Pussycat?" Woody Allen disowns both movies, though, as well does most of the cast.
