a.		David Newell is in studio records for a role in this film, but he does not appear.
b.		It was this film that first introduced the line spoken by Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto in the movie "I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve." Although the line accurately reflects Yamamotos feelings, it has never been traced or sourced as a historical quote. The American director, Richard Fleischer claims that the producer Elmo Williams discovered the quote in Yamamotos diary, while Williams claims screenwriter Larry Forrester found it in a 1943 letter by Yamamoto. But no such documentation has ever been produced. It is similar to a passage from Hiroyuki Agawas biography on Yamamoto, The Reluctant Admiral, who quotes him having said: "A military man can scarcely pride himself on having smitten a sleeping enemy; it is more a matter of shame, simply, for the one smitten. I would rather you made your appraisal after seeing what the enemy does, since it is certain that, angered and outraged, he will soon launch a determined counterattack". But even that version of the quote has not been documented. Neverless, the "sleeping giant" quote has since become legend. It was included in the screenplay for Pearl Harbor
