After filming for one month and spending $300,000 on the project, producer Mary Pickford canceled the production and had all negatives destroyed. The film resumed production in 1933 and was released that year under the original title Secrets, and was the last film in which Mary Pickford appeared.

The rewritten story of "Maytime" presumably demanded it. Sadly, the Technicolor "Tosca" sequence does not appear to have survived, which is a pity as it would have been fascinating to see MacDonald and Nelson Eddy in a major operatic sequence and in color.
