a.		Kevin Smith, being a big fan of Arrested Development, wanted David Cross to play the role of the Hobbit Lover. Cross showed interest, but had to decline due to scheduling conflicts. Based on a suggestion from producer Scott Mosiers wife, Smith and Mosier offered Kevin Weisman the role and he accepted.
b.		When Eli encounters a group of road bandits, behind them is a tunnel structure with a bold 14:6 written on top. Being a post-apocalyptic movie, that writing can be referenced to an apocalyptic book in the Bible, Revelation. Revelation 14:6 (King James Version): "And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people."
c.		Boris Karloff only really played Dr. Jekyll in this film. Once the makeup transformation scenes were over, stuntman Eddie Parker did every scene as Mr. Hyde. This was even tipped off to audiences through publicity stills for the film, which showed both Karloff and Parker in makeup standing next to each other.
d.		During a preview of the film the marquee said, "From the Director of Animal House." Because of this, many people in the audience thought they were seeing a comedy. Reportedly, people ran out of the theater when they discovered it was a horror film because they were frightened.

a.		Unlike other versions of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, this time Jekyll is pretty evil in his own right. He seems to have no qualms about deliberately becoming Mr. Hyde so he can commit a murder.
b.		The Ward brothers, who play themselves, were real life pimps and drug pushers in Oakland. They offered protection to the filmmakers to be included in the film. The Black Panthers heard about the film and shook down the director for $5,000 to film in Oakland. When the Ward brothers heard, they felt betrayed by the production. During one day of shooting, glass bottles rained down from buildings as retaliation from the brothers.
c.		Rosanna Arquette, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Melanie Griffith, Kim Basinger, Kathleen Turner and Jodie Foster all turned down the role of Elvira Hancock. Brooke Shields was also offered the role, but her mother Teri Shields made her turn the offer down.
d.		The photos of the 1984 attack were still shots of a re-shoot. James Cameron had a hallway set built, dressed Arnold Schwarzenegger in his original Terminator outfit and had him recreate one take, from which they took the pictures. a.		The films title for its Italian release was "LOssessa: i raccapriccianti delitti di Monroe Park", which translates to "The Obsession: The Horrific Crimes of Monroe Park." A strange title considering that there is no setting called Monroe Park in the film.
b.		In Britain it was given an X certificate though it later played on childrens television.
c.		Costumes designed by Theadora Van Runkle for this movie often turn up in other productions. The loose, flowing white gown Lucille Ball wears during "Loving You" was worn (with a different belt) by Suzanne Pleshette in the television movie Leona Helmsley: The Queen of Mean, while the stylish dress, coat and hat Mame wears when she first takes Patrick to Ralph Devines school is worn by Jane Alexander in Malice in Wonderland. Currently, the red dress from the "Its Today" number is on display at Universal Studios Hollywoods Lucy exhibit.
d.		Another Cahn/Van Heusen number, "Nothing in Common", performed by Bob Hope and Martha Hyer, was cut from the final print, although Hopes intro line, "Great night for singing, hmm?" remains.
